Detailed Planning Approval Received for Modernisation of Historic Stable Yard in Oxfordshire.
Lew House Stables has been in use as a racehorse training yard since the end of the Second World War. The yard has an illustrious past having produced numerous winners including Corbiere who went on to win the Grand National, Morley Street who won a Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival and State of Play who won the Hennessy Gold Cup.
The Stable Yard has recently changed hands with former jockey Marcus Foley now looking to train future winners at the site. In order to remain competitive investment into the yard and its training facilities were required.
Equine Planning Solutions which is part of the RPS Design Group were appointed to obtain the necessary approvals which would bring the yard back in line with modern racehorse training facilities. Two new training facilities were proposed, the first being a Horsewalker located close to the Grade II listed Stables, the second being an All-Weather Circular Gallop situated on what was agricultural land to the South East of the site.
Equine Planning Solutions worked closely with the client and West Oxfordshire DC with planning permission secured in February 2020.
