Limes Farm, Upper Lambourn
Equine Planning Solutions were commissioned by Kubler Racing to design and obtain planning permission for a new racing yard in Upper Lambourn on what was previously a Jockey Club Estates Depot.
The scheme involved numerous components including new stables, offices, ancillary equestrian facilities as well as trainers and groom’s accommodation.
The proposed trainer’s accommodation took the form of a two storey detached, four-bedroom house with integral garage. The new house stands on an elevated part of the site overlooking Upper Lambourn Conservation Area. It was of great importance that the design of the new house contributed to the character of the Conservation Area. Likewise, the design of the proposed groom’s accommodation had to protect and enhance the local setting.
The proposed groom’s accommodation consisted of a two storey building designed to look like a traditional barn. The groom’s building contains 7no. bedsits on two floors together with 2no. two bedroom self-contained cottages. Externally the building is traditionally constructed in local materials.
