Rock Farm, Kidderminster

Rock Farm is a former dairy farm on the outskirts of Rock village near Birmingham. Equine Planning Solutions were commissioned to design and obtain planning approval for converting the existing site to a new racing yard.

The scheme involved numerous equestrian developments including 60no. new stables, indoor arena, veterinary facilities, stable yard offices and gallops. As part of this scheme there was also a requirement for groom’s accommodation.

The proposed groom’s accommodation took the form of a two storey building located close to the new stables. The accommodation element included 4no. en-suite bedrooms together with communal kitchen, lounge and dining areas. The building also contained staff canteen, toilets and shower facilities. The new building had to sit comfortably in its rural surroundings and was therefore designed with an agricultural aesthetic, this was accentuated through the inclusion of ancillary uses as part of the design including storage areas for tack, feed and rug rooms.
